Approval of new draft laws on intellectual property protection

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved two draft laws introduced by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine in intellectual property sphere. The first draft regards amendments to Ukrainian patent legislation and prescribes, inter alia, an electronic filing of patent applications and introduction of a post-grant opposition system for challenging the intellectual property rights to invention or utility model. Science funding in Ukraine increased by over 30%

Science funding in Ukraine has been increased this year by more than 30% up to UAH 6.1 billion. “Science funding in Ukraine has been increased this year by more than 30%: from UAH 4.7 billion in 2017 up to UAH 6.1 billion in 2018. The funding of the National Academy of Sciences has grown significantly, by more than 38%, while the university science funding has been increased by only 12.3%,” the press service of the Education and Science Ministry of Ukraine
