Approval of new draft laws on intellectual property protection

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved two draft laws introduced by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine in intellectual property sphere.
The first draft regards amendments to Ukrainian patent legislation and prescribes, inter alia, an electronic filing of patent applications and introduction of a post-grant opposition system for challenging the intellectual property rights to invention or utility model.
The second draft law is aimed at amending active copyright legislation, for instance, legalization of digital licenses and introduction of free licenses, and strengthening a liability for copyright infringements such as non-payment of remunerations for the use of copyrighted works and others.
