Ukraine to Resume Standard IP Deadlines: Important Changes for Rights Holders

Legislative Update

The Parliament of Ukraine has adopted Law № 4362-IX (April 16, 2025) that will resume standard intellectual property deadlines in Ukraine. The law repeals the special legal regime established during martial law (Law No. 2174-IX of April 1, 2022) that had suspended various IP deadlines.

Official Timeline Confirmed: The legislation has been signed by the President of Ukraine on April 29, 2025, and officially published in “Holos Ukrainy” № 85 on May 1, 2025. The law will enter into force on May 31, 2025.

What Changes

Under the new law:

  • All suspended IP deadlines will resume on May 31, 2025
  • IP rights holders will have until August 14, 2025 (75 days) to complete necessary actions
  • Maintenance and renewal fees that became due during martial law must be paid by August 14, 2025
